A collaborative marketing campaign during the Fall that called upon businesses to support local charities through rounding up for the benefit of all.

In the midst of the pandemic, retailers and nonprofit organizations were struggling. 

How can we build a campaign that impacts both? 

During the pandemic, requesting small businesses to discount products or services any further was not a realistic option for place-making organizations. However, providing alternatives to shopping online is still an important part of the mission, and providing meaningful experiences was crucial to that goal.

Timing-wise, the rise of value-driven consumerism was at an all-time high. Doing the right thing by supporting your local community was a pledge that many people were really interested in. So the question was, how can you support that mission while tapping into more altruistic patronage?

Aligning the Incentives to Increase Sales and Support Your Community.

While working at the Downtown Development Authority, Cody worked through the strategy & campaign development process to arrive at a campaign that answered the question of building a community-oriented campaign through aligning interests.

Businesses were not requested to discount what they offered but instead were asking customers to round up for a good cause. Four organizations were chosen that provided important work to the community, including Outreach Fort Collins, The Food Bank, The Family Center / La Familia & Neighbor to Neighbor.
